Stronheim’s Touring Show Rolls On.
Strange Factories returns to the Cinema Museum tonight, for the final few dates of of its current London run. But worry not folks, for while the bonfires burn and the fireworks scream, the haunting continues.
Stronheim’s story, long and old as it is, cannot be confined. So, on the 10th of November, the cavalcade of ghosts and spectres make their way to the English Seaside.
There amidst the November waves and pebbled beaches of Brighton, so the story will play out at the Duke of York’s Picture House. And that perhaps, is when you should ask yourself - what happens when Punch passes between the sentences of the page? What happens to the Guild of the Imaginari when they arrive at a place so steeped in English seaside dreams?
Will Doktor Brightwell feel Punch’s swizzlestick, as hard as poor Judy? Will the sinister trader and notorious liar known as M have yet more to say as you wrap your tongue around an ice-cream?
Only time will tell.
Likewise, what shall occur in the lavender fields of Hitchin in Hertfordshire? Will the landscape finally succeed in taking Victor - the driven and obsessed author of Fool’s Forest - inside itself? What secrets lie buried within the earth, what new shapes and purposes shall emerge upon these different stages?
Or poerhaps there’ll be more seaside wonder in Bournemouth in days to come?
The Theatre of Manifestation that FoolishPeople employs burns bright this Bonfire Night. Be careful it does not turn your mind to ash!
